The Hugh Currie home "Happy Hollow", built in 1891, was for many years the only house on the Amarillo - Tulia freight and stage lines. It served as the old stage line station and Happy's first Post Office. The U. S. Postal Department cut the name to "Happy" for the Post Office. The town moved 2 miles west to the Santa Fe line in 1906.
