George Chester Hutchison was the son of W. B. Hutchison, early settler of Swisher County. He married Bulah Frances Gass. Shortly afterward, he became deputy sheriff to Frank Scott. From 1901-1906 he was sheriff and tax collector of Swisher County. He never carried a gun or seemed to need one. G. C. became a partner with Joe Cantrell in the grocery business and later a partner with Charlie Dinwiddie in real estate. The firm of Dinwiddie & Hutchison sold much of the land to the early settlers of the area. In 1907 they brought the first automobiles to Tulia. Each had a Reo with a hand crank on the side and without a windshield. G. C. and Bulah are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery.
