Mrs. Tomlinson was the first president of the PTA. She was president of the Ladies Aidi Society, a member of the first Music Club, and a charter member of the Delphian Club, as well as Past Matron of the Tulia O.E.S. chapter and Past Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of Texas.
In 1916 there was an urgent need for the upkeep of the local cemetery. Mrs. Lulu TOMLINSON decided to do something about it, and a committee was formed consisting of Mrs. TOMLINSON, T. W. TOMLINSON and J. L. STALLINGS. Their goal was to raise money for a fence and a gate. Mrs. TOMLINSON did the soliciting and raised most of the money needed. As the first president of the Cemetery Association, she was privileged to name the cemetery Rose Hill. She said, "We have the hill. Someday we will have the roses."
